This poem found me yesterday and provided a lot for me to ponder and reflect upon – especially the last stanza. I invite you to read this prayerfully – slowly and aloud to yourself – noticing what comes to mind for you. Begin with one word: “Stopping”. This alone will give many of us pause to ponder and reflect. Remember: “Slowly is like holy”
Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
-Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downey flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go to before I sleep.
Music for your prayer and reflection – allow the music, woods and images to flow through you – opening inner spaces, new depths of being.
I love the words spoken in the middle:
“You have become a part of the fabric of my life”
Think of all those who are part of the fabric of your life.
With you in awakening to who we are in God and to who God is in us here and now.
